Cirkul Water: 5 Best & 3 Worst Flavors + 15 Types

Cirkul Water is a newer creation, having only been invented in 2017. Since then, however, it’s revolutionized the way we enjoy water. In this article, we’ll delve into the very best Cirkul Water flavors, the ones to avoid, and the different types of Cirkul Water.

If, like co-founders Garrett Waggoner and Andy Gay, you find traditional flavored water options frustrating and way too artificial, Cirkul Water may well be for you. With its unusual way of flavoring water, it’s truly groundbreaking.

Cirkul pride themselves in their customizable water bottle options, as well as flavors that contain no sugar, no calories, and no artificial flavors or colors.

The design concept allows you to ‘flavor’ plain water by each sip you take. There’s a clever ‘flavor dial’ at the top of the bottle which you can turn to go from no flavor to a more heavily flavored beverage.

Interesting Facts about Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors

Interesting Facts about Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors

As water bottle brands go, Cirkul is quite fascinating. We’ve already mentioned their innovative flavor dial, which allows you to dial the intensity of your added flavors up or down — or just have plain water.

Cirkul offer plenty of limited edition flavors and seasonal releases, which makes for fun new additions to their product lineup.

The business is very keen on feedback, taking customer feedback seriously and using it quite regularly to improve flavors and create new varieties.

They’re fairly active on social media, promoting ‘hydration challenges’ to keep you drinking water throughout the day.

Lastly, Cirkul make a big effort to appeal to a variety of lifestyles: whether you’re a busy professional, an athlete, or just someone who wants to drink more water without it being too bland, Cirkul creates flavor varieties to suit your needs.

What Cirkul Water Bottle Is

What Cirkul Water Bottle Is

Cirkul water bottles are designed to include what they call a flavor dial on top of each bottle. This allows you to fine-tune whether you want flavoring added to your water as you drink it, or whether you’d rather just have plain water.

The flavoring is added as you drink, so you can change it up as often as you like.

To top it off, they boast all natural flavors which aren’t boosted with artificial dyes.

Origin of Cirkul Water Bottle

Origin of Cirkul Water Bottle

The idea behind Cirkul water bottles came to co-founders Garrett Waggoner and Andy Gay when they were teammates at Dartmouth College’s football team.

They were annoyed with sports drink powders, which always spilled a little when they were trying to pour them into water bottles.

The concept of Cirkul water bottles was born.

What Is Special About Cirkul Water Bottle

What Is Special About Cirkul Water Bottle

Cirkul Water bottles are indeed special, thanks to their incredibly innovative design.

They’re crafted so you can ‘dial’ between water and juice-flavored beverages without needing to add anything else by hand. This makes them ideal for athletes or those looking for an easily customizable beverage.

The only downside? Some of the flavors are sweetened with sucralose or stevia.

If you don’t like those additives, you’ll want to opt for their flavor ‘essences’ with no extra sweeteners.

The Best Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors Ranked

The Best Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors Ranked

Cirkul have a lot of different flavors across many, many ranges (see further on in this article) — so it’s not the easiest task to pick the best flavors to try.

We think we’ve worked it out, however, and bring you the best varieties to start with if you’re new to Cirkul.

Honeycrisp Apple LifeSip

Honeycrisp Apple LifeSip

This is by far the most widely recommended flavor variety. Honeycrisp Apple is perfectly balanced, with the right amount of sweetness and tartness.

It’s a very addictive flavor that fans seem to keep going back to again and again.

Gateway Teas

Gateway Teas

All of the Gateway Tea flavors seem to have a fairly loyal fan following out there. The Sweet Tea is a particular fan favorite, though you probably won’t go wrong trying any of them.

Fruit Punch LifeSip

Fruit Punch LifeSip

The Fruit Punch LifeSip flavor gets very mixed reviews, with many fans recommending it while others seem to loathe it.

It’s a great mix of classic flavors with hints of citrus and a satisfying sweetness. The fruity notes are popular amongst many Cirkul drinkers.

Cherry Limeade GoSip

Cherry Limeade GoSip

The Cherry GoSip is disliked by some who don’t enjoy the taste of stevia. If you don’t mind that, this one has a lovely balance of cherry flavoring with hints of zesty lime. It’s refreshing yet juicy.

White Cherry FitSip

White Cherry FitSip

Cherry-flavored beverages have been hugely popular in recent years, and this one is another good one.

The FitSips contain electrolytes, and many of them are considered a bit too ‘salty’ by fans. This one is an exception that consistently gets great reviews for its fruity and fresh flavor.

Worst Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors

Worst Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors

Cirkul offer so many flavor varieties that there are plenty of delicious ones to choose from. Some, sadly, don’t hit the mark quite as well and get quite low write ups.

Below are our worst-rated Cirkul water bottle flavors to try at your own risk.

Frosted Coffees

Frosted Coffees

There’s not much written about the frosted coffees that’s positive. Many fans have bought multipacks of the Frosted range only to really, really loathe them.

They’re probably the lowest ranked amongst the entire Cirkul flavor lineup.

Many find the texture odd and end up adding milk, which of course defeats the purpose a little, but to each their own.

GoSip and FitSip

GoSip and FitSip

The GoSip and FitSip ranges of Cirkul flavors contain sodium, with GoSip having 10mg and FitSip a whopping 50mg. For many that’s just too much, and it adds a salty taste that some just find really off-putting.

Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry Lemonade

Most of the Squeeze Lemonade flavors appear to be somewhat unpopular, but Strawberry Lemonade has been called ‘truly terrible’ and too chemical tasting.

The Original Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors

The Original Cirkul Water Bottle Flavors

Cirkul isn’t one of those brands that only introduced one or two flavors when they first launched. For that reason, we’ll only list the 12 original varieties we could find briefly in this section.

Many of them aren’t particularly well-liked, while others may well be worth a try.

Raspberry Lemonade

Raspberry Lemonade

Self-explanatory, and probably nicely tart. With that said, the lemonade Cirkul flavors available today aren’t the most popular out there.

Mixed Berry

Mixed Berry

Mixed Berry features strawberry and blueberry flavoring according to the ad, and gets okay reviews. It’s a sweeter flavor, but nothing overly special.

Peach Mango

Peach Mango

Another fairly generic flavor that isn’t really shouted about much. Those who have tried it seem to really love it, but it’s another slightly sweeter flavor we think.

Tropical Blast

Tropical Blast

Tropical Blast features a mixed fruit flavor that seems to get neither love nor hate by fans. It just sort of sits there as a random mixed fruit flavor that’s neither exciting nor horrible.

Black Cherry

Black Cherry

Black Cherry flavoring is one of those all time popular varieties. It’s sweet, crisp, and delicious. What’s not to like?

Lemon Lime

Lemon Lime

This is a strangely unpopular flavor, which some Cirkul fans say tastes ‘off.’ It’s described as citrusy and sweet, but perhaps isn’t the best take on that particular combo.

Orange Tangerine

Orange Tangerine

Orange Tangerine Cirkul is fairly generic and not the most exciting. People describe it as ‘pretty good’, which is just about all you need to know about this original, slightly boring flavor.

Strawberry Kiwi

Strawberry Kiwi

This appears to be another divisive flavor. Kiwi tends to be a little more on the tart side with strawberry adding a satisfying sweetness. It’s not one of Cirkul’s most popular flavors, but isn’t hated either.

Coconut Pineapple

Coconut Pineapple

This is a well-loved classic. It’s tropical, fruity, and delicious. Even the packaging makes you think of beach holidays in the sunshine.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit

Grapefruit Cirkul is a nice take on a classic that’s inoffensive but not particularly exciting. There’s not much hype about it, but people probably enjoy it for its basic grapefruit flavoring.

Watermelon

Watermelon

The original Cirkul Watermelon flavor has great reviews and is described as a nicely balanced, juicy and sweet flavor. It’s perfect for hot summer days and probably won’t go out of style any time soon.

Blueberry Pomegranate

Blueberry Pomegranate

This is another fan favorite that appears to be fairly popular amongst the Cirkul die-hards. It’s fruity, juicy, and delicious.

Tasty Alternatives to Cirkul Water Bottle

Tasty Alternatives to Cirkul Water Bottle

If you like the idea of Cirkul’s water bottle system, but want to shop around for alternatives, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few of the most popular options to try instead, as well as what’s good (and not so good) about each one.

Air Up

Air Up

Air Up is an interesting concept that flavors your water through scent only.

The idea is that your brain interprets the scents you smell as flavor, when you’re actually drinking just plain water.

The cleverly designed bottles also mean you use less single-use plastic and, according to Air Up, their ‘flavors’ make them cheaper compared with other flavored beverages.

Selah

Selah

Selah appears to be a very similar concept to the Cirkul water bottles, though you push a button to flavor your drinks.

You can add two different flavor pods to your bottle at one time, which means you can mix up your own drinks. Whether you consider this a bit gimmicky or not is entirely up to you.

Infuze

Infuze

Infuze was a great concept that allowed for your water to only mix with your chosen flavor in the lid, so your water always stayed fresh and clean.

You could choose to drink plain water or add more (or less) flavoring on the go, much as you can with Cirkul bottles.

Sadly, they have recently gone out of business, though you can still get some of their products on the internet.

Types of Drinks At Cirkul Water Bottle

Types of Drinks At Cirkul Water Bottle

Cirkul offer a range of different flavors you can add to your special water bottle. Here we delve into what varieties there are, and why you should or shouldn’t choose each one. There are quite a few ranges available, giving you plenty of options.

LifeSip

LifeSip

This range of Cirkul flavors is enriched with B-vitamins. Flavors include Honeycrisp Apple, Fruit Punch, Strawberry Kiwi, Peach Mango, Watermelon, and more. These contain the added sweetener sucralose to sweeten them.

FitSip

FitSip

The FitSip range of flavors is enriched with electrolytes, aimed at keeping you hydrated during your workouts and game play.

The six flavors are Lemon Lime (with added stevia), Orange Tangerine, Mixed Berry, White Cherry, Island Punch, and Tropical Blast.

These also contain vitamin B12, as well as the sweetener sucralose (except for the Lemon Lime flavor), and 50mg of sodium.

GoSip

GoSip

GoSip is Cirkul’s answer to caffeinated drinks. They’re very basic energy drink-type additives for your Cirkul water bottle.

Flavors include Blue Raspberry, Strawberry Watermelon, Grape, Black Cherry, and more.

These include sucralose, caffeine, taurine, and vitamin B12. Caffeine content is 30mg per 1.5ml, and they also contain 10mg of sodium.

Gateway Tea

Gateway Tea

We have to admit that the description of these paired with the cute packaging depicting grassy fields is really tempting.

They’re described as ‘iced teas that taste like home’, and flavors include Honey Green Tea, Tea & Lemonade, Sweet Tea, Peach Tea, and more.

Disappointingly, they’re also sweetened with sucralose, but the rest sounds quite nice, and there’s a moderate amount of added caffeine content at 20mg per 1.5ml.

Wild Splash

Wild Splash

Cirkul’s new-ish kids range is sweetened with stevia but doesn’t contain any added sugar or artificial coloring.

The packaging is indeed bright and fun, and flavors are the likes of Alligator Apple, Shark Strawberry, Gecko Grape, and Parrot Punch.

Ingredients include filtered water, natural flavoring, phosphoric acid, citric acid, lactic acid, and stevia leaf extract.

However, there hasn’t really been enough research on whether or not stevia is fine for kids to consume long-term.

Sabrocita

Sabrocita

Cirkul’s Sabrocita range is all about international flavors and tastes that are ‘celebrated’ all over the world. This sounded pretty exciting to us.

So far, flavors include Prickly Pear, Horchata, Tamarind, Strawberry, Soursop, Hibiscus, and Guava. So it’s perhaps not quite a worldwide culinary journey yet, but could be fun.

These are again, you guessed it, sweetened with sucralose, though the remaining ingredients are minimal.

Inflow energy

Inflow energy

The newer Inflow energy range is an ‘optimized’ range of energy drinks. They boast added green tea, ginger root extracts, caffeine, taurine, and B-vitamins.

The current six flavors are Watermelon, White Cherry, Wild Berry, Blackberry, Passion Fruit Dragon Fruit, and Strawberry Kiwi.

At 35mg of caffeine per 1.5ml they’re even more caffeinated than the GoSip range, and they also have added sucralose to sweeten the drinks, as well as vitamin B12.

Flyte

Flyte

The Flyte range is another electrolyte-packed addition for your Cirkul water bottle.

It comes in unusually named varieties such as Walk-Off (Watermelon), No-Hitter (White Cherry), Overtime (Orange), and Goal Line (Lemon Lime).

These contain sucralose to sweeten them, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), and vitamin B12.

Squeeze Lemonade

Squeeze Lemonade

These appear to be aimed at both adults and kids, with a tag line of ‘for you and the next-generation lemonade drinker.’

Flavors include fun, colorful varieties such as Lychee Lemonade, Pink Lemonade, Grape Lemonade, Watermelon Lemonade, Classic Lemonade, Blueberry Lemonade, and more.

They’re sweetened with sucralose, and have added vitamin B12, as so many of the other Cirkul flavor ranges.

Fission

Fission

The Fission range is another energy drink alternative that’s aimed at the ‘risk-taker in you’ (we’re not sure why either).

The black and colored packaging seems to be more targeted towards a male audience, with flavor varieties such as Florida Man (Orange Citrus), Nocturnal (Berry Blend), Jackpot (Green Apple), and Send it (Fruit Punch).

These include a whopping 43mg of caffeine per 1.5ml, as well as added taurine, l-leucine, beta alanine, vitamin B12, and of course sucralose to sweeten it.

Frosted Refreshers

Frosted Refreshers

Frosted Refreshers are a newer range of tastes, promising fruit-flavored treats that delight and refresh. If Fission was the manly range of flavors, we’d say that the Refreshers are distinctly girly.

At time of writing there are just three flavors available, Pink Refresher, Paradise Refresher, and Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher.

These contain 20mg of caffeine per 1.5ml (so as much as the Gateway Tea range), and added sucralose to sweeten them.

Frosted

Frosted

Now this range sounds particularly clever, even if it’s not the most popular out there: it offers sweetened, iced coffee flavors in scrumptious varieties.

Choose from flavors such as White Chocolate Raspberry Iced Coffee, Hazelnut Iced Coffee, Caramel Iced Coffee, Vanilla Iced Coffee and more.

They’re marketed as being especially sweet, though they are also sweetened by sucralose. The caffeine content of these is 30mg per 1.5ml.

Stage Hydration

Stage Hydration

The Stage Hydration range is all about added electrolytes to help you exercise. With that said, as compared with FitSip, these are all stevia-sweetened, which may be preferable to some.

The relatively basic packaging of these does make them look more like a standard athletic drink. Flavors include Tropical Punch, Berry Blend, Blackberry Twist, and Lemon Lime to name a few.

They also contain salt, so we’d expect a kind of Gatorade-esque flavor.

verda

verda

Verda, with its bright, pastel-colored packaging and eco-conscious design boasts stevia-sweetened, natural flavors.

There is a vast range of different flavors, including Fruit Medley, Grapefruit, Orange Pineapple, Cherry, Kiwi Strawberry, Cucumber Lime, Watermelon, and more.

They’re made with added vitamin B12, and relatively minimal ingredients.

puressence

puressence

By far our favorite range amongst the Cirkul Water Bottle flavors is puressence. These are entirely unsweetened — perfect for those who don’t like artificial sweeteners.

The simple, soft-hued packaging appeals, as do the flavors. Enjoy Lime, Watermelon, Strawberry, Cucumber, Apple, Pineapple, and many more.

As might be expected, the ingredients lists here are super short, and they contain no calories.
